Importing from the Third World

October 31st, 2009

Many importers that are still learning how to start an import export business think they found a product to import from a particular country. In many cases that country may be an European country.

Let me make this perfectly clear: just because you can find a product to import from, for example Italy, it does not mean you have to import it from Italy. You could successfully import the very same product from a Third World country, for example Thailand.

If you will be opening an Italian Delicatessen store, then yes, absolutely, you have to import that product from Italy! Case in point, Italian Salami. Then yes, if you plan to open Italian delicatessen you best import the Italian salami from Italy.

But if plan on selling the salami to clientele that can care a less where it was made, they just love the taste and in fact do not even know where Italy is (please, watch Jay Leno, there are many people like that in the United States today…), than you do not have to import the Italian salami from Italy! Your import export shipping documents can read the country of origin is Thailand.

Indeed, you can have that salami made in Bangkok, Thailand and it will taste just as good as the Italian-made salami but the Thais will actually make is probably at half the price of the Italian-made salami. That is a fact. And of course the country of origin sticker, a requirement of US Customs, will say, Made in Thailand. Otherwise it will be very much the same product.

Think about what I just said and let it sink in!

03 numbers benefitting the national health service sort out with their calls

October 31st, 2009

The Department of Health announced on the 14th September 2009 that all calls to NHS services should be charged at local rates – no matter what phone number is being dialled.

The conclusion is the result of the organisation’s 3 month public consultation into the use of a 0844 number in the healthcare sector.

The consultation ran between December 2008 and March 2009 and asked key stakeholders and members of the public whether 084 numbers should be prohibited for all NHS services. It received almost 3,000 responses and 90% of these said calls should be charged at local rates.

A a result of the consultation, the Department of Health is taking steps to ensure that numbers used in the NHS don’t cost patients more than regular landline numbers to call. However, precisely how they are going to do this is unclear at this time.

One of the main reasons that NHS services adopt 0844 numbers is because they offer them extra functions on their phone lines which helps them deal with their callers more efficiently. Caller menu options is a popular call management feature (e.g. “press 1 to make an appointment, 2 for information about swine flu” etc.) and call queuing is also used so that patients can avoid hearing an engaged tone.

By using a non-geographic telephone number like an 084 number, organisations can also handpick a memorable phone number that their patients will recall with ease.

For total pricing transparency in the healthcare sector – the use of 03 phone numbers has been widely advocated.

03 numbers are non-geographic telephone numbers (like 084 numbers) that offer exactly the same call features as 08 numbers but cost people the same to call as normal landline numbers – even from a mobile phone. This is important when you consider that 44.5% of all UK calls are now made from mobiles according to communications regulator, Ofcom in its Market Report 2009.

Many healthcare practices now use 03 numbers including the National Blood Service, NHS Change4Life, Sefton PCT and the Brighton and Hove Cuty PCT Dental Helpline.

Tips in your Quest for the best Web Host

It is very mportant to choose your web host well. This is where you domain name or website will be hosted to be LIVE in the Internet.

There are many web hosts in the Internet – from the $1 web hosting to the most expensive. Nevertheless, there might only be few which can really satisfy your need – your site’s need. Affordability is not the only consideration in finding a webhost. There are many factors – in fact, some criteria in finding one might just be as different as the rest of those who are looking for a web host. One – it is because your site, your business, or you have different needs no matter how similar your business or site can be from the rest.

Here is what I usually do in finding the webhost for my particular site. Mind you – I have different web hosts for every particular site that I have:

Know What Your Site’s Needs

This is very important. Finding a web host should be based upon your site’s need. And your sites (if you have more than one) might have different needs. Do you need a web host for large files? Do you need a web host where you can have blogs or wordpress blogs.

Get Help from the Search Engines.

Search through Google or Yahoo (I usually use both). Have these keywords: “web host”, “webhosting”, “webhost”. After getting results, I try to make my search more specific: “Web host in Philippines” (Philipines is the location where you are or the location where you want you web host from), “affordable web host” (looking for a web host according to the criteria – for now my criteria is affordable), “quality web host”, “web host with cpanel”, and the like. I also try to read reviews on each web hosting company like searching for “review of web-rank.biz”, or “review of “cebu web host“.

Make a Price Range

Decide on how much you are willing to spend for a web host. No matter what – we are always limited to the funds we have. So choose well to the closest web host you can get as far as your need and its affordability.

How to Generate Local Interest For Your Website

Article marketing is perhaps the most popular and effective method of generating more traffic to your site without paying for ads. Essentially it consists of writing quality, keywords specific articles that pertain to the subject of your website , and submitting them to free article directories on the web.

Leads are indispensable to run an affiliate program. Create motivation in your members to sell your products by offering them a high commission for selling your products. Leads and phone calls directly from the source and referral traffic to your website. You may even experience walk in traffic from these sources, rarely properly tracked. Leads from outside your service area will be mostly worthless, right? Roofing Sales Lead Generator System uses only techniques that have been tested and proven to target the most valuable local roofing prospects .

Ask something relevant to your business, and let others know the results. Ask a local lawyer to help. Many will donate the time because of the nature of the organization. Ask them for the names of other local business owners you could approach together.

Blogs can focus on just about any subject you can think of and many real estate professionals have discovered that blogs work well to communicate with their prospects and other interested parties. Suggestions are local real estate laws, building regulations, local market conditions, local businesses and attractions, new listings, new markets, etc. Blogs that contain written content, audio or video are great ways to reach not only your community but also the entire Internet. Even though you may not want to reach the entire Internet, it would not hurt you to do it.

Participation in newsgroups and forums will result in building credibility. Home business relationship will often result from online dialogue in industry forums and newsgroups. Participate in online forums: Search online forums for users that might benefit from your products or expertise. Try question and answer forums like Yahoo!

Talking to print media, radio, and television becomes easier when you talk about what you are doing online with your business. I have received thousands of dollars in free publicity by getting interviewed, having articles published in different trade journals, and focusing all my publicity on what I do online. Talk with other community entities about financial support. Talk to your GMs – most sites out there are run as an operating expense – not as a profitably business.

Search engine marketing and search engine positioning is built around 3 basic concepts – organic search engine optimization, optimizing for PPC (pay per click) campaigns and site functionality. All three areas must work together to succeed. Searching for local events is easy; just enter your postal code. Again, chances are that your library is already listed as a venue, but you really ought to register for an account and take ownership of your organization’s page on this site. Search for Ezines as they often supply content and the RSS code to place on your blog or site. Only install high quality related content.

Contact the local radio station and invite them to one of your events. Again do this as soon as possible. Contact details are clearly shown at the bottom of the home page, including a name, a postal address and a telephone number. In many ways local history websites don’t get much better than this, so it is a worthy no.1 in the Google list. Contact your local media outlets and ask for the contact information you need. For example, if your product is in the healthcare business segment, it’s in your best interest to get to know the health editor for your local newspaper.

Remember, people are visiting your site anonymously, virtually, and they are looking for content. The friendly greeting that works well in face to face reality is counter productive on your web site. Remember; be consistent in your service at all times, as you only get 1 chance with a new recruit!
